A Quick Guide to Non-Toxic Condoms
Most of us don’t think twice about what’s in our condoms. We grab whatever’s available and get on with it. But what if we told you that what’s inside your condom could be messing with your body? Many mainstream condoms contain ingredients that aren’t exactly friendly to your most sensitive areas. If you’ve ever felt irritation, dryness, or an off-balance feeling after sex, your condom could be the culprit.
Most condoms are made from latex, but it’s the extra ingredients that can cause problems. Here’s what you should be on the lookout for:
Parabens – These preservatives have been linked to hormone disruption and irritation. You probably avoid them in your skincare—why let them into your body during sex?
Glycerin – A common lubricant ingredient that can contribute to yeast infections. No, thanks.
Nitrosamines – These chemicals are found in some latex products and have been flagged as potential carcinogens. Yikes.
Artificial Scents & Dyes – There’s no reason for a condom to smell like fruit punch. Synthetic fragrances and colours can lead to irritation and allergic reactions.
Spermicides – While they might sound like a good idea, they can cause more harm than good (we cover this in another post!).
A non-toxic condom (ahem) keeps it simple—just high-quality latex and a body-safe lubricant. No harsh chemicals, no unnecessary additives, nothing to throw off your body’s natural balance.
Jems condoms and lube are made of natural latex and pH-neutral 100% silicone, nothing more! Just smooth, ultra-thin protection that feels good—during and after.
